Plain English summary: We run free daily puzzle games. We don't sell your data. We don't require you to create an account. We use cookies and anonymous analytics to understand how people play our games and to serve ads that keep everything free. That's the short version. The full version follows.
Who We Are
The Daily Chill Pill ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website thedailychillpill.com and its subdomain games including enigma.thedailychillpill.com and casedle.thedailychillpill.com (collectively, the "Platform").
The Platform provides free daily puzzle games accessible without registration. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit any part of the Platform, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
For the purposes of applicable data protection law, The Daily Chill Pill is the data controller for personal information collected through the Platform.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect information you actively give us:
- Email address — if you subscribe to our notification list via the signup form on our homepage. This is entirely optional.
- Contact form submissions — if you reach out to us via any contact form or email address listed on the Platform.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Platform, certain information is collected automatically:
- IP address — used to determine your approximate country or region for analytics purposes. We do not log IP addresses in a personally identifiable way.
- Browser and device information — browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution, used to ensure the games display correctly.
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, which puzzles were played, whether a game was won or lost, how many guesses were used, and whether results were shared. This data is anonymised.
- Referring URL — how you arrived at the Platform (e.g. from a search engine or a social media link).
- Session identifier — a randomly generated anonymous ID stored in your browser's local storage. This is not linked to your identity. It is used to track streaks and game progress locally on your device, and to aggregate anonymous usage statistics.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, date of birth, payment information, or precise location. We do not require account registration to play any game on the Platform.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To operate and improve the Platform — understanding how people interact with our games helps us fix bugs, improve difficulty balance, and design new games.
- To personalise your experience — your anonymous session ID allows us to maintain your game streak, daily progress, and statistics on your device without requiring an account.
- To serve advertising — we work with Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Platform. Ad revenue is what allows the games to remain free. See the Advertising section below for more detail.
- To send notifications — if you subscribed to our mailing list, we may email you when new games launch or when there are significant updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations — we may be required to retain or disclose certain information if required by law.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling in ways that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Cookies & Local Storage
Local Storage (Game Data)
Our games store data directly in your browser's local storage — not on our servers. This includes your daily game progress, your streak count, your statistics, and your anonymous session ID. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share your result. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for our domains.
First-Party Cookies
We may set first-party cookies to maintain basic session state and to remember your preferences across visits.
Third-Party Cookies
Third-party services we use — including Google Analytics and Google AdSense — set their own cookies. These are used for analytics and advertising purposes as described in the Third-Party Services and Advertising sections below. You can opt out of these cookies using your browser settings or tools such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Cookie consent: Where required by law (for example, if you are visiting from the European Economic Area), we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services on the Platform. Each has its own privacy policy which we encourage you to review:
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Platform. Google Analytics collects anonymised data about your visit including pages viewed, time on site, and approximate location by region. Google may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
- Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Platform and other sites. See the Advertising section below for more detail.
- Provider: Google LLC
- Policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Google Fonts
We load fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font, Google may log your IP address. We use the following fonts: Bungee, Cinzel, Space Mono, and DM Sans.
Free Dictionary API
Our word games validate guesses using the free Dictionary API at dictionaryapi.dev. When you submit a word guess, that word is sent to this third-party API. No personal information is attached to these requests.
Email Notification Service
If you subscribe to our mailing list, your email address is stored and managed via HostGator hosting services. Email addresses are used solely to notify you of new game launches and significant platform updates. We do not share your email address with any other third party for marketing purposes. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send.
Advertising
The Daily Chill Pill is a free platform. To keep all games free, we display advertisements provided by Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-8850588483829019).
Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements that may be of interest to you. This is sometimes called interest-based or behavioural advertising.
Important: Anthropic (the company behind Claude AI) does not display ads in its own products. The Daily Chill Pill is an independent platform that independently operates its AdSense account. Advertisers do not pay us to promote specific content within our games.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting:
- google.com/settings/ads — Google's ad settings
- aboutads.info/choices — Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out
- youronlinechoices.eu — European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EEA users)
Opting out of personalised ads means you will still see advertisements on the Platform, but they will not be tailored to your interests based on your browsing history.
